Local trains are the most widely used means of transport in mumbai. The reasons are pretty obvious. In my case I had a train from CST at 12:30 pm to catch . I decided to go by local trains as they are cheaper and faster. People here warned me about the crowd in local trains .They said its almost impossible for me to go by local trains considering the luggage i have. But the low cost and fast transport pulled me towards it.So i decided to go by local trains.I started planning my travel to CST considering the crowd and time(at which i travel ) factors.I had decided to reach the nearest station (Kanjurmarg) by 9:00 am . As this station is very small, all the trains that come here are fully loaded especially at office hours. So i had decided to go to a major station near by(in the opposite direction) and then catch a train that starts at that station .In my case the major station is "Kalyan".Many trains start at kalyan whose destination is CST.As i had a lot of time , i thought of spending some time observing the trains in both the directions(towards CST and towards Kalyan). After some considerable time I concluded that trains going in both the directions were having the same(almost) crowd. So getting into a train towards kalyan is as difficult as getting into a train towards CST.Now i was left out with only option, catching a train towards CST.I failed in my first 5 attempts .In my 6th attempt i used all the energy saved since last week to get into the train.Believe me!! these mumbaiwalas are damn strong, they just dont allow you to get into the train.

Now the journey started and hence the pain. I had a black suitcase trolly and a laptop back bag.I kept the suitcase down on the way to the door and i was standing behind it holding my bag. There were some 50 people(including my suitcase) in that small space between the two opposite doors.I really cant express the pain, but physically i was twisted,sandwitched..wht not.!!.Suddenly one guy started speaking in a language which I couldn't understand.I tried to express in my so called hindi, that i was not able to understand what he was saying. Some other guy explained me in hindi wht the first guy was trying to say . They dint know that i am very week in hindi . So after using all my knowledge in hindi and with utmost difficulty and pain i understood that he was asking me to take the suitcase away(so obvious,i should have guessed this rather than trying to understand what he was saying). Then i told him "can u plz show me a place where i can put my suitcase".He showed me some space in a rack. The rack is physically 4-5 feet far but logically it is at an infinite distance after considering the crowd.I dint know wht to reply i jst kept silent thinking WTF!!.Now the train was slowing down and i knew that i was in great trouble .I could not go inside as there was no space and could not get down as this was not my stop.So i expected some pressure and stood firm catching a rod . But the pressure i faced is some 1000 times more than i expected. These people dont mind killing you if you come on their way.I faced similar difficulty at the next 5-6 stations.I could not stop appreciating my sapphire backbag which was still alive without any damage. Many people left the train at a major station where i got some place to sit .I kept the suitcase in the rack above me with a guy's help.
Now i am looking at my bag and guessing the damage that my laptop might have got.I had decided to check the laptop after reaching the main station.Though i was using a little space to sit, i felt like i had all the worldly comforts(a million times comfortable than standing in this local train). The one opposite to me was reading a news paper.First i thought it was a hindi paper so i tried reading it while he was still holding it.I dint find a single word which i knew, then i concluded tht it was a marati news paper. So I slept for 15 mins before the train reached CST .
At the station...
It was 11:20 am in the morning .I still had more than a hour to my train.I walked out of the local train and walked into the waiting room. With slightest hope i opened my bag and took the laptop out.Checked the laptop for possible damages....the result was a very big smile on my face as nothing had happened to my laptop.Thanx to the bag and the dell xps laptop .Then I spent some time appreciating the laptop. And finalized a tagline for my lappy.."STRONG !! Where it matters".Spent some time in the waiting room and then got into my train.
So people dont dare to get into local trains atleast in the office hours.
Thats all for now....and thanx for reading ....:)
